Can you mount and unmount tapes using robtest to see if the correct tape
from the slot you requested a mount mounts the tape in the correct drive and
unmounts it?

All

I have finally admitted defeat in resolving a problem we are experiencing
with mounting tapes on an HP Surestore DLT 2/15 library.

Whenever we attempt to mount a tape for backup, or using tpreq, the request
hangs, and no tape appears to be mounted - after around 5 minutes, the
request times out and VM attempts to mount the tape on the second drive
(with the same result).

On further investigation, I found that :-

. Running vmoprcmd, the Ready column changes from No to Yes
. Running robtest, I can query the drives and can see the tape sitting on
the first drive.

The barcode on the tape doesn't match the volume ID, as our barcode labels
are 7 characters, but I cannot see this causing a problem.

We are running Netbackup 3.4 on Solaris 2.6.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and would help preserve my sanity.

Thanks

Adriaan Mosseveld
