MessageHi again Paul!

What way do you prefer to do database backups?

Don you run with one policy per database? ex: i have a database called =
db1 and a policy db1, db2 have policy db2, and so on.
Or is it better to create one policy for all oracle or informix backup, =
ex: both db1 and db2 uses policy db_daily and so on.

I would like to run all informix or oracle backups to one policy instead =
of that every database instance have there own policy.
But i don`t feel certain about which way would be the best or most =
correct.=20
I think both ways work when a backup is preformed, but is there anything =
one must change or modify when it comes to restore?

Hope someone have som good pointer.

Regards Hampus.

  Hampus

Which database extension are you using? Not that it matters very much =
because most of them work like this:

1: NetBackup schedules a backup of your database policy based on the =
your schedules (full_daily)
2: This triggers the running of a script on the target client (script =
name is defined using file name from the policy's file list)
3: Script runs and invokes NetBackup using a policy-name/schedule-name =
coded into the script or one of its supporting files:
3.1: For RMAN (Oracle) the policy-name and schedule-name are set in =
the <...>.rcv file
4: The retention for your backup is controlled by the values in your =
script!

  Does that explain things?
