MessageHi Paul!

This is what i was expecting, the thing is, that we have configured =
several full backup scheds, with several application scheds with =
different retention in the same policy.
Now, we start full_daily from the server, and then RMAN starts several =
jobs with application backup full_year_ instead of full_daily_. Veritas =
Support explained to me that this is not possible, and that if i want to =
achive this i need to make several policys with different retentions.

This "problem" occurs on oracle and informix backups.
You say one can configure RMAN *.rcv script with policy and sched name. =
If i have several different scheds, would nt i need several different =
*.rcv scripts?

I hope you understand what i have explained.

I think the answer to all my questions will be the answer from this one: =
Can you have several scheds with different retention periods in the same =
database extension policy, such as oracle or informix?

Regards Hampus.

  Hampus

Which database extension are you using? Not that it matters very much =
because most of them work like this:

1: NetBackup schedules a backup of your database policy based on the =
your schedules (full_daily)
2: This triggers the running of a script on the target client (script =
name is defined using file name from the policy's file list)
3: Script runs and invokes NetBackup using a policy-name/schedule-name =
coded into the script or one of its supporting files:
3.1: For RMAN (Oracle) the policy-name and schedule-name are set in =
the <...>.rcv file
4: The retention for your backup is controlled by the values in your =
script!

  Does that explain things?
