Hi there,

We are using NetBackup 4.5 data center with Oracle agent on Solaris to
backup Oracle database. We use HP LTO Tape library and NetBackup always
return status 6 for Oracle backup.

Following is extraction of media log from bpadm.

Currently, we have 5 LTO tapes and all are new assigned tapes (Never
used). Our vendor advised us to place only one LTO tape in the tape
library so that the NetBackup can recognize the tape properly.

However, from above log, we can observe that the Veritas NetBackup still
can't use the media.

So, my questions are

1) What is the mechanism for media server/NetBackup to select which media
to use ?
2) Is any command/necessary steps must be performed after operator
open/close tape library (We also use Omniback and need to set another Tape
library to re-scan inventory after tape removal/addition)
3) How to solve above problems (Status 6) ?

Please give me some help.

Regards,
Edward.
