The easiest thing to do is to create a file called:
        MEDIA_ERROR_THRESHOLD
In the /usr/openv/netbackup directory and in it put the number of media
errors you are willing to tolerate before the tape should be frozen.  In our
case this number is zero and thus volumes are frozen immediately, even when
they have no images on them at all.  This then results in frozen, allocated
tapes which the media manager claims were never even written.  The status
field on these tapes will get the 0x010 bit set as well.
