Not intentionally. We don't have sso, but we've had a problem a few months back
with another server trying to take control of the drives and making backups
fail. We had to disable the drives on that server.
We have a Compaq TL891DLX with two DLT8000 drives with one master/media server
controlling it.
Thanks,
Lee Anne

Hello Lee Anne
We saw this problem with an hp/ux system and oracle backups using sso.
Are you using any tape drive sharing?

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Win2K NBU 341: Patch 341_3A problems
Yesterday I patched the last of my servers to 341_3A. It just happened to be
the SQL Server 2000 server that I'd saved til last because I expected it to be
trouble, and big trouble it is.
Last night most of my backups failed. Of my file/print servers, the only ones
to complete were the four servers that were the first to multiplex onto two
tapes. All other backup attempts resulted in frozen tapes due to unrecognised
media. My exchange duplications from disk had the same result.
The errors:
Block read is not a NetBackup media header len = 1024, media ID DSR107, drive
index 0, data is unknown
Non NetBackup media found in drive index 0, FREEZING DSR107
My SQL backups never managed to write anything to tape before freezing it.
Trying to back up to a local DLT drive has also failed on this server, for the
first time.
Of course, this would be when I find out that my Veritas support contract was
cancelled due to miscommunication... So please, any suggestions while I wait
for its reinstatement? I'm almost to the point of uninstalling the NetBackup
client on the SQL Server, but not having set it up to begin with, I'm not sure
how long it will take to reinstall and get working again.
Thanks,
Lee Anne Pedersen
