[Veritas-bu] Firewall and vnetd
2002-10-10 10:46:18
We've been playing with this in development. In our testing we have these
ports configured, but doesn't seem like they're required. Although we need
a SERVER_PORT_WINDOW entry, this is our biggest concern. All inbound
traffic is coming back through these ports. Our Firewall administrators
won't allow many ports open, so if implemented into production we'd have
many scheduling problems. I must say that without vnetd we weren't able to
complete successful restores. If you want give me a call my number is below.
Are there any more of us out there who are doing backups/restores through
the firewall????
If so, how many inbound ports do you have configured?

Has anyone used vnetd on version 4.5? What I would like to know is that
once you've turned on vnetd, do you still have to define "Client Reserved
Port Window", "Client Port Window" and "Server Reserved Port Window"?
Thanks,
Ken
