yeah, the vmchange -res -e only works on a few robot types, TLD, TL8 and for
some reason I'm thinking only one other... but I know it's not ACS or TLH.

as far as the speed of vmchange, not that it's an option, but if you use

print "" | vmchange ...

it will get the <return> it needs and you don't need to use the -sec option.
it actually works very well and quite fast.

if you are using 4.5, there is now a -api_eject option for vmchange that you
could use with ACS.

And what would you do when you rsh? A pointer to some real information on the
ACSLS system would help. I have not been able to find any useful information,
and have not been able to make the "eject" command in the acsss bin actually
DO
anything.

Or, where can I find API information. I'm not opposed to writing a util
either.

Doesn't work with the acs at all:

# vmchange -res -m BBB482 -mt hcart -rt none -e -sec 1
Could not change media ID BBB482: cannot auto-eject this robot type (51)
