Ah! Tape drive. Sometimes I can be a bit dense - this was before my morning
coffee.

No - I don't have any help on undocumented tpconfig flags - sorry.

Hi Mark,
When I say 'drive' I'm referring to a tape drive.

I'm talking about the NetBackup drive multi-hosting capability, I guess it's
called Drive sharing in 4.5. Purchased as the 'Shared Storage Option' from
Veritas.

I saw in one of your articles (sorry, I forget which one) that there is an
undocumented flag in tpconfig that allows you to multihost a drive via
command line, but it didn't say how to specify which hosts were to be
included. Any idea?
Phil

Can you clarify the question? Do you want to make a drive visible to more
than one host at a time?

Is this for use as a NB Storage Unit?

If you want to make a drive visible to more than one host at a time, its
mostly outside the NB arena. You'll need to either NFS mount the drive (TCP
hopefully) to the hosts or use some sort of clustering software like VxCFS
and other technology, like SAN, multipresenting this disk to more than one
server at a time.

After that, for NB, it's just a matter of building more than one media
server specifying this filesystem as its storage unit. Warning, I've never
actually tried this NB part...

Hi,

How can I use the command line interface to multi-host a drive (or to create

a multi-hosted drive) and add the multiple host servers at the same time?

Phil
