It looks as though these are the st.conf settings recommended by Veritas. I
had some intermittent problems with my AIT2 drives and Qualstar had me change
the settings to this:

SONY_AIT = 1, 0x36, 0, 0xd679, 4, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0;

This solved the problems.

Also, make sure that the dip switch settings on the drives are set to 2, 4 & 7
ON (the rest OFF).

Solaris Sparc

A client is having issues with a backup server freezing all available
media, then giving off 96 errors on subsequent backups. Checking thru
the logs shows that tapes are being frozen for the following reason:
"FREEZING media id 000021, too many data blocks written, check
tape/driver block size configuration"

This gets repeated for each tape until the media server runs out of
tapes. The media server is a Solaris 7 box with a SpectraLogic
TreeFrog library, with the following st.conf entry for the library:
tape-config-list =
"SONY    SDX-500C", "SONY 8mm AIT2", "SONY_AIT";
SONY_AIT = 1,0x34,0,0x9639,4,0x13,0x0,0x8C,0x8C,3;

Anyone run into this before? I couldn't find any relevant tech notes
on the Veritas website. Thanks in advance.
