You have two main choices. Offline or online backup of the exchange database. 
Where offline and online refer to the exchange services.

1) For an offline backup, just stop exchange at the start of the client backup 
and restart at the end. You will have to work some processes to delete the 
transaction logs.

2) For online -- you have to license the exchange backup agent. 
Then exclude the exchange data files from the clien backup. 
Then use the  exchange backup agent to backup the data online and delete the 
exchange transaction logs.

3) Online/offline.

Use the build in windows backup software to backup the exchange data base 
online to a file. 
This will also delete the transaction logs.
Exclude the exchange data files from the client backup.
Do an client backup.

Hello everybody,

I'm using Netbackup 3.4GA on a Redhat 7.3 and i'de like to backup an MS
exchange server. I've installed a common NT client on it. And as i
monitor the active job i get the following messages :

"cant' open G:\Exchsr\First Storage Group\E00.log" the process is
already accessed etc..
"cant' open G:\Exchsr\First Storage Group\priv1.stm" etc. etc.

I understand that those files should be backed up... so here's my
question : is there a specific client or server that i should install or
a specific option that i should configure on them to correctly backup
Exchange ? 

Also is there a specific website where i can get stuff fot that ?
