A. Interrupted scheduled jobs will retry if the backup window is still open
and if the settings allow retry in NB. (In the setup, there's a "Retry X
times in Y hours"). Interrupted user-directed backups are just lost.

B. The error codes are same , Error 50. The bperror description reads:
"client process aborted - The client backup aborted. One instance when this
code appears is if a NetBackup master or media server is shut down or
rebooted when a backup or restore is in process."

C. If Netbackup is correctly tracking the tape, then it'll show up in
"vmoprcmd -d ds". Sometimes NB loses track of a tape and it'll be in the
drive but not show up in this command. In this case I usually:
  1. Down the drives
  2. use robtest to unmount and move the tapes to their slots
  3. use "vmupdate" to re-inventory the library
  4. Up the drives.

You can also use robtest to look at the drives outside of NB control or you
can check the drives with the unix "mt" command.

Hi All,

I'm in need of some expert opinion on NBU:

Scenario 1:
some NBU jobs are running and all of the jobs are
set to re-try.

A. What happen when someone goes and reboot the box?
Do those job re-start if the backup window is still available after the
machine comes back up and NBU starts successfully?Or those jobs just get
some error codes and never try re-start
even after the machine comes back up since NBU daemons were
restarted?

B. What are the error code those running jobs will get both for User
initiated backups that were in progress during the reboot and those
automatic scheduled jobs?

C. What commands to use to find out which drive has tape in it and
how to un-mount tape that would be stuck in the drive and put them in the
appropriate slots?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Hemon
