DataCenter 3.4 on Solaris 8 (patched to 3.4_3)
One master/media server

Master is configured as an NIS client.

Under certain conditions, I need to do a restore to a client off the network.
When I take the master off the network, I fake out NIS into not starting by
creating an empty "defaultdomain" file. Then I use the local host file for
name resolution: nsswitch.conf is set to "hosts: files" ( I don't have the
exact syntax because the master is off the network).

I reboot the master and connect it to a standalone switch along with the
client. Both client and master can ping each other, and bpclntcmd -hn and -ip
lookups are successful (both client and master can resolve each other's
unqualified and fully qualified domain names, as well as themselves, as well as
reverse lookups).

Using the Java Gui, all NBU server functions work on the master, and I can
make a backup of the master. But I cannot browse ANY backups. The response is
something like "No backups are available using the criteria you've supplied".
I know I'm entering the correct criteria because as soon as put the master back
on the network, I'm able to browse backups.

(Haven't tried the X interface in a while, but my memory is that fails as well)

Any clues?

Neil
