Simon,
Have you been to NetBackup training before? If you have been to 3.2
training, then in my opinion, going to 3.4 training probably won't teach you
much new. As to how long long 3.4 will be supported, I don't know.
Meaning, 4.5 was scheduled to be out last fall and didn't get released until
April. I should say, that whenever you renew your support contracts, I
believe you renew at the current support pricing levels no matter which
version you are running.
Actually, talking with someone else, he believes Veritas will
support the last 2 releases, so 3.2 may still be supported, and 3.4 may be
supported when 5.0 is released; though I don't know how much development
cycles would go into the older releases.

Paul

Thanks Paul
So is it worth going on the 3.4 courses?
I am deeply concerned that we have only had version 3.4 since February this
year - if support dies in another years time, a lot of questions will be
asked as to why we implemented an older version of this product!

Simon,
Version 3.4 has been out a long time, since June 2000, plus or minus
a month. Anyway, version 4.5 was released in April so all the training
classes are being redone for the new version.
Version 3.4 is still supported, but just like 3.2 support being
phased out when 4.5 arrived, so will 3.4 most likely when 5.0 comes out
sometime next year(?).

Hi
I went to put myself on a Veritas Training course for the above product.
I have found out that this course is only being run for one more session,
and after this, it will only be done on an "on-demand" request only!
Can I ask, how long has 3.4 been out, and is it likely support for this
product will be dropped by Veritas?
I did want to go on this course and pay for itself - but I don't want to
shell out my own personal money if Veritas is going to be dropping this
product support in the short term.
Also, does anyone know of any self-paces training on this product?
Thanks
