I'll second the Emulex recommendation. However, it really depends on the
compatibility with whatever you're using. Documenting and assuring
compatibility between hardware, OS, firmware, HBA driver, switch, tape
drive, robots, enterprise storage, etc. is becoming a full-time job ;)
Anyway, your choices are probably going to be limited by what your
compatibility matrixes tell you. For example, a
certain well-known storage vendor only certifies Emulex's 4.20k driver and
nothing later. Unfortunately, there is a (known to Emulex and documented in
their release notes) case where Netbackup on systems using this driver will
cause a Sun V880 to panic and crash hard. The newer drivers (4.21) do not
have this issue...but they aren't certified by this certain well-known
storage vendor! These kind of catch-22s are all too common in storage.
