Hi,
I want to start a transition from the present master server to a new master
server.
Scenario:
Present master - Solaris 2.6 attached to a Spectra Logic 64K via JNIC
FCE-6410 hbas.
New master - Solaris 5.8, with a new name, to be attached to the same tape
library
via JNIC FCE-6410 hbas.
NetBackup - 3.4 on both servers.
I want to unattach the present fibre channels during the day from the
present master,
then attach the fibre channels from new master to the tape library.
Configure and test
the new master, then switch back to the old master for backups during the
night.
Is this a good idea? I don't want to go "Cold Turkey" with the change :).
If I do this will I have to "Change Volume Database Host" for each drive I
want to use?
(This is in the Device Management GUI).
Or, I noticed the "Multihost" column in the Device Management GUI, can that
be changed?
What other gotchas do I need to be aware of?
Has anyone ever done any type of transition to a new master master?
