The answer the #1 is yes. NB Datacenter does backup NFS links as a
switchable option per class/policy.

The answer the #2 is "yes - I think"... I'm pretty sure I've seen postings
about that here. The reverse is certainly true - backup NT to Solaris.
Given the cheap cost of some of the new Sun Blades, can you trade out NT for
Solaris? Sun blade 1000 with Sparc III is as little as $6K list.

I assume this is not the case with NetBackup, right? Unfortunately our
business has a few cases where it uses NFS mounts with the way some things
are architect here. I don't necessarily like it, but I know that I will be
setting up some new servers to backup their data and they have nfs mounts.
It will be backing up to a NT master (yuck).

1. Business server doesn't do NFS, does NetBackup Datacenter do NFS?
2. Any issues of backing Solaris clients up to a NT master?

Thanks,
Dan

That is true, it is a licensing thing with VERITAS they don't want someone
buying Business Server and then NFS mounting the world to one server and
backing them up that way. So NFS is locked out.

Sorry,

Bob

I just heard today that Business Server can't do NFS mount backups? Is this
true? I'm so used to working with Datacenter that I took this for granted.

I can't imagine a network backup product not being able to do NFS backups.
That's like not being able to do VXFS or UFS backups. Business Server can do
VXFS backups right? I'm trying to find documentation on this but nothing
exists on Support.veritas.com. If anyone has something that talks about this
like a pdf from Veritas I could really use it.

Thanks,
