Yeah solaris 8 is support with 3.2 with the patches put on.

Its just basically a symbolic link form the 2.6 directory.

These tapes are moved around with the robot inside the L1000 and controlled
by Netbackup.

Netbackup is talking about the same drive as the OS as /var/adm/messages
gives info from the scsi device relating to the drive, and Netbackup device
management screen shows the same drives as going down. this is also
confirmed with echo "s d" | tldtest -r /dev/sg/c3t0l0

I'm wondering if its hardware problems see, but need to rule out Netbackup
before I log a call. It never used to do this though.

First, is Solaris 8 supported by NBU 3.2? Check the release notes.
Second, have you "manually" put a tape into a drive, then done an mt -t
/dev/rmt/xxx status on each drive to be sure that NBU and Solaris are
talking about the same drive?

Be sure to put only one tape in a drive at a time, then loop through the
/dev/rmt entries to be sure. The tapes can be move using robtest, and
ejected using the mt command.

Im still getting drive problems, it has now moved onto 2 of my drives
constantly going DOWN.

Running Netbackup 3.2 on Solaris 8 with an L1000 sun storage unit, with 4
dlt drives.

2 drives keep going down which causes backups to hang and other things

snippet of /var/adm/messages is as below. Anyone seen this sort of thing
before ?
