Out of my kindness, I'm helping the Windows NT/2000 people with
their NetBackup problems here. Today's problem is a database
backup issue. The job is failing with a status code of 2. The
problem manifests itself in the dbbackup log like this:
21:06:36 [1668,348] <4> CDBIniParms::CDBIniParms: INF - NT User is NetBackup
21:06:36 [1668,348] <32> CDSNaccess::LookUpInstance: ERR - Error in
RegOpenKeyEx, opening <SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI\Netbackup> key: 2. The text
follows:
21:06:36 [1668,348] CONTINUATION: - The system cannot find the file
specified.
21:06:36 [1668,348] <32> CDBbackmain::GetDBNames: ERR - Bad DBMS ID <4>.
21:06:36 [1668,348] <4> CDBbackmain::dbbackup: INF - Results of executing
<F:\VERITAS\NetBackup\dbext\MSSQL\sms_sql.bch>:
<0> operations succeeded. <0> operations failed.
Which seems to me to be a failure opening a registry entry. This
would make sense since that registry entry does not exist. However,
when I pull up the ODBC administration tool, I see the definition
for that name. The machine in question is running Win2k Advanced
Server and NBU DC 3.4.1. It seems that the ODBC/Registry handling
has changed since this version of NBU was written.
Any suggestions?
