And if that all comes up true.

I would created /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bpdbm on the master

Add VERBOSE to your bp.conf file.

And run this again to see what is logged in there.

CAVEAT:

When you have completed your testing with this log and would like to remove
the logging directory, you will have to terminate the bpdbm process,
bpdbm -terminate, the remove /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bpdbm, and finally
initbpdbm to restart the daemon.

have you got your backup server listed in its host file?

ie in /etc/hosts have the same thing you have listed for SERVER in
/usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf ??

Worth a try

Dave

list, host is unreachable

I've searched the mailing list and veritas knowledge base, found a couple
of people asking the same question but no answers :(

# bpexpdate -deassignempty
Search for empty media that meet the following criteria:
        Host: All
        Media id: All

Continue? y/n (n)y
Could not update media list, host is unreachable
host is unreachable

bpexpdate -deassignempty runs automatically every so often, but recently
it's been failing with the above error and I've got no idea why!
bpexpdate -d ... -ev ... etc works.

Has anyone got any ideas or tests I can run?

Many thanks, Justin
