Hi David,
Try with tpconfig (here the options)tpconfig -add -drive -type <drvtype> -name
<drvname> [-comment <comment>] [-index <drvindex>] [-drstatus [UP|DOWN]]
[-cleanfreq <hours>]
You can grep the output (DOWN or UP) and you can also change it
