Paul, you may also want to consider loading Sharity or Sharity Lite on your
Solaris Media Server. This will eliminate the hop between your media server
and your Windows/CIFS client.

Hopefully, this helps...

To all,
We are painfully trying to avoid the cost of additional hardware and
licenses by backing up our one filer through a client that has a mapped
drive. So far it has taken approx. 16 hours to backup 1.6GB. Are there
some tricks that I may be missing that would help to speed us this process?
I tried using a UNC name directly to the filer that ended successfully, but
did not back up any data.

Environment Info
Filer: F820 running Data Ontap 6.1r2
Client: Windows 2000
NBU version: 3.4 Data Center
Unix Master/Media Server

Any suggestions are appreciated.
