Maybe they were not the same volume database host before the patch and now
they are.
How about changing the volume datbase host just for kicks to see if it was
wrong before? Maybe you will see the pools then.

Hi all,

Thanks for the quick response. Confirmed that the master and media
server are using the same volume database host. Missing an entry in the
vm.conf file and added Scratch Pool which helped but I'm still missing
the volume pools from the master server. With the media server, in the
volume pools, I can see None, Netbackup and Scrtach_Pool. I'm missing
some volume pools from the master server. Any ideas?

Elmer

from your media server do the following

/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/tpconfig -d

see what the volume database host is set to for the robotic unit
configured
there.

do the same thing from your master.

If they don't match, then you are maintaining two separate volume
databases....eek.

start with that and let me know.

Hi everyone,

Have an issue with our media server, it's not recognizing the
scratch_pool tapes. Instead of scratch_pool, they are all labeled as
Netbackup pool plus I don't see any volume pools nor the volume groups.
>From the master server, I can view the scratch_pool tapes as part of
the volume group in the media server. When a backup is started in the
media server, it would stay in queue and that's when the backup fails.

The only change, I made, was adding a patch in the master server but
this shouldn't affect the volume groups nor the volume pools of
recognizing the media as scratch_pool.

Master server: Sun E450, Solaris 7, Netbackup 3.4 GA, STK 9710, DLT
7000
Media server: Sun Ultra2, Solaris 7, Netbackup 3.4 GA, ATL P1000, DLT
7000

Any advise would be helpful.

Thanks,

Elmer
