This is possible but not exactly the way you want.
First of all, your workstation would have to be a media server under the
master.
Second, any restore you initiate must be started on the master. As far as I
know there is no way around this because you must be able to access the NBU
catalog (so if your master is down your screwed).

CLI Restore is as follows:
bprestore -L <restore_log> -R <rename_file> -C <client> -D <destination> -s
<begin_date> -e <end_date> -f <file_list>
The gui works well for single file restores but when you need to span a
particular period of time I find the cli to be much easier. Netbackup will
automatically grab the latest and greatest files it has within the given
time period, utilizing full and incremental backups. See p512 of the
sysadmin guide for further details.

On a similar topic:

I would like to set up my workstation with a DLT4 drive and netbackup so
I don't have to leave my desk when having todo a restore. silly users ;)

Is this possible? In short the ideal situation would be to be able to
put the DLT tape in the drive, run the commands on the workstation (not
on the server, incase the server was down or something) and then it will
restore to where I would like. Would I need to make my workstation a
media server?

I would also like to know how to perform a restore from the CLI, I have
been using bpadm but this is fairly slow process.

Thanks,

Timothy
