NetBackup 3.2 with one of the later patches 'officially' supports
Solaris 8 (see the patch READMEs). According to th e compatibility lists
at: http://support.veritas.com/menu_ddProduct_NETBACKUP.htm certain
flavors of Linux at specific versions are supported.

In Netbackup, the Solaris 7 and Solaris 8 clients are merely symbolic
links
to the Solaris 2.6 client. You should be safe. I don't have any
experience
with the Linux clients.
