When you re-configure the drives you indicate which drive in the robot.

When you add a "New Drive" the Device Name is <NAS HOST NAME>:<DEVICE NAME>
Example: NetApp:nrst0a
The "Drive name" can be whatever name you like.
You then select "Drive is in a robotic library"
For the drive information you enter the "robot number" and the "Robitc drive
number" which in your case will be 9 for one drive and 10 for the second
drive.

Next you need to configure a "storage unit". Make an NDMP storage unit with
2 drive in it. Make sure you change our other storage unit. If it had 10
drives, change it to 8.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] NDMP install question.. How do I tell robot which tape
drives to use?

I've installed my Netbackup servers to do NDMP. We've directly connected a
Net App box to two of the drives in our library (it has a total of 10).

I've got the permissions set for the master servers to talk to the Net App
box and verified that they work.

We've set up the devices on the Net App box.

I've removed the two tape drives from the tpconfig for the media server that
controls the robot. Drives 9 and 10 are not configured. They can only be
seen by the Net App box.

I've set up a class and storage unit for the NDMP backups. The robotic arm
is controlled by one of my media servers.

My question is this... all through this procedure there is no setting which
will tell the robot "which" two drives to use. I'm assuming that the robot
arm is pretty stupid and doesn't know device driver files from a database.
It just knows drive slots 1 through 10. I want it to use slots 9 and 10 for
the NDMP backups. Where do I configure this setting?

Any help is appreciated.
