Tommy,
Do you have a fragment size set for your storage unit? If not, it may be
trying to cache the entire tar image first. With fragments, vault will
duplicate the image one fragment at a time.

do you only have 1 tape drive ?
if so, sounds like it would copy the tape with data to disk, then dump
that data to the tape that is to become the duplicate.
