In this case, it was 3.4 patched to J0850645 to NB_341_2, as per the the
instructions on http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/239855.htm. I am
certainly considering installing NB_341_1 followed again by NB_341_2,
before uninstalling the whole thing and starting from scratch again.

Should the server be rebooted after the patch installs? Being a production
server, it's difficult to reboot, but I have stopped and restarted the
services a few times.

I have been using OTM without any problems for a couple of months now,
until I patched the servers two days ago.

Without OTM, how do you ensure back up of open files? One of my servers
made a substantial jump in backup speed without the OTM running (though
no change on the others), so I'd like to hear more.

Thanks,
Lee Anne

Lee Anne,

We use a win2k master/media server attached to an STK L700. We back up w2k,
nt4, uniwware, hpux and linux. All of our windows clients are patched up to
the NB_341_2 level. (As is the NB server) We do not use OTM. We have had
zero problems. The only thing that you did not mention was whether or not
you patched J0850645, then NB_341_1, then NB_341_2. From experience I can
tell you that skipping a patch can have interesting results.

I just upgraded my Win2K SP2 clients from J0850645 to NB_341_2 and now all
my backups finish with Status 1 from files in use. OTM is disabled with
'OTM: not enabled (err = 0x00000001)' in the log. I've read over the ReadMe
file for the patch and double-checked all my OTM settings, but I can find
nothing that I am aware of that would cause this.

Has anyone experienced this and found a fix? Or is there a way to revert to
the previous version without reinstalling from scratch?

Thanks,
Lee Anne
