Adam,
=20
After much troubleshooting and name-calling, I found that NET_BUFFER_SZ
has to be placed in the high-level NB dir (i.e. C:\Program
Files\Veritas\NetBackup). SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS and NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS have
to be put in db/config. I have had much trouble attempting to boost
performance with these values. My Buffer size was set to 64k, and I read
that Windows 2000 cannot write to tape drives with a buffer size larger
than 64k. Ok, I then attempted to increase the number of buffers, and
was then met with misc. errors that bombed my jobs. I wish I remembered
them, but if you play with the values a good bit, you'll see it I'm
sure. Finally, on the NET_BUFFER_SZ, I was able to slightly increase
peak performance, but nothing dramatic. When I turned the value up to a
respectable amount, the machine completely disappeared off the network
and I had to disable/reenable the GBE NIC. Now I'm back down around
stock. Documentation for Win2k performance tuning is absolutely
horrible/non-existent. You would think Veritas would be interested in
people getting the best performance out of their software, I guess there
aren't enough Win2k Master/Media servers out there to make them care? I
dunno.=20
=20
Hope this helps!

=20
Hi All,
=20
Has anyone used NET_BUFFER_SZ, SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS and NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS
under W2K and can you please let me know the best why to configure this?
We would like to use these same parameters in the W2K environment and
have no details other than those for Windows NT 4.
=20
Thanks for your help.
