Tamara,

Is it possible to reduce the # number of files in your file list by moving
higher up the directory hierarchy and making the file list focus more on
whole directories rather than single files? Also, make sure your Netbackup
database resides on a striped volume that is capable of handling intense
I/O.

I am attempting to restore 21,595 files (11.7G) to an alternate client, it
is taking approximately 4 hours to generate the file list to restore. I am
trying to restore from one directory on one server to an alternate server
and an alternate path. I am running the command: bprestore -R filename -C
fromsrvr -D tosrvr -L progressfile -s date -e date -f listofiles.

When I call veritas their response is: "Yes it will take a while to
generate the list, the fastest way to generate it is through the command
line". I talked to them about indexing the database, per them this is only
for a small number of files that need to be restored repetitiously. I can
not believe this is an acceptable length of time, or an excessively large
number of files, I also find it hard to believe that larger shops would be
willing to wait this long for a large restore.

Any Suggestions?!?
