Database cleanup isn't my strong suit, but I believe you're looking at
possible problems here. The only place tape media is really set to
correspond to active images is in the imageDB files. If no active images
show up for an assigned tape, won't it get removed from the media server's
mediaDB and set to unassigned in volDB, and setup to be written over again,
when a cleanup session is run?

I wonder what would happen if you just removed the .f files and left the
info files, since the .f ones are the guys taking up a lot of the room?
Something to look into.

Thanks,

I would like to move my image database aside at the end of the year and
start fresh. Our image db is 57 gb and we can only run dbbackup once a
week.
I would like to put the image dbs in a folder such as images2001 and use an
altpath file if I need to restore from these images.
I am wondering if Netbackup does any kind of sync between the volume
database and the image database that would cause the associated volumes to
be scrubbed.

Does anyone see any problems with this or have suggestions.

Thanks much,
Melinda
