I use it on all the backups just to keep the drives in streaming mode. Even
a very fast machine over 100 megabit ethernet won't keep a tape drive going.
Over gigabit it might but if you have lots of little files instead of a
couple of big ones it might not.
I find de-muxing the dupelicates to be a nice balance and safety net.
Your mileage will vary :)

I usually MPX only incremental backups, FULLS I
recommend that they do not MPX.
