one more thing...

not only is the "brick-level" backup of the Registry slow, but from the NB
catalog perspective, each value in the Registry looks like a file. Expect
your catalog to grow substantially if you turn this on for a lot of NT
clients.

You can only restore an individual key if you backed up the individual key.
To back up the Registry this way you have to use a special file directive
(it's soemthing like HKLM:\ or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE:\... I don't remember, but
it's in the manual). This is essentially a "brick-level" backup of the
Registry and it is slow.

To pull out a key without this type of backup you have to restore the file
that contains the key to an alternate location, load it as a hive, save the
key and then unload the hive. Detailed instructions are in MS TechNet
articles. This is really an NT admins area. Make sure whoever is doing this
is very familiar with the Registry.

Has anyone experienced the process of restoring NT 4.0 registry data. Several
questions:

1. What locations (folders) are selected for the restore.
2. Can individual KEYS be selected.
3. What happens if a KEY is in use at the time.

Any comments or directions on best practical usage, tips, pit falls etc . .
would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott Jacobson
