Greetings,

It turned out that I was misunderstanding the meaning of "Expiration" and
had forced all my scratch tapes to expire. Rather embarassing. Thanks to
everyone for their assistance with this!

Are you using SSO? If volumes have been assigned to a storage unit, another
media server wouldn't be able to use them. I believe the master should
assign the media server first, and then the media server should only check
on tapes it has access too.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] bptm out of sync with available_media?

Good morning,

One of my scheduled backups reported that there was no media available for
the backup and exited with a 96. However, available_media reported, both
before and after, that there was plenty of media available.

I turned on bptm logging and saw, along with other items, the following.

Why is it missing a media ID in the first few error messages?
Why does it report on 000071 multiple times?
Why does it report on some media that isn't even in the library? (Not shown
in this log clipping)
And why doesn't the log report that it checked on any of the media that
available_media said was available? (Not shown in this log clipping)
