According to my notes the command you want may be:

bpimmedia -mediaid ...... [-l|-L]

The optional -l or -L options change the format of the output.

I can't remember exactly what the bpmedialist command does, but I do
remember at least one of the veritas reporting commands actually
wanting to read the contents from the tape. It makes some sense to me
that commands which read from the tape could be useful. However, in
your case you almost certainly do want something which just reads from
the catalog.

I have a slight issue here. An automated duplication I was running last
night had some kind of hichough and my reports didn't get generated
correctly. I found two tapes ejected from the silo this morning, only one of
which is reporting being used by my script. I would like to check the
contents of these two tapes by what NetBackup and MediaManager say is on the
   tapes.

I thought I had it figured out with 'bpmedialist -mcontents -ev 010213' to
show me the images on tape 010213, but it just sat there doing nothing. I
checked the device manager and found that NetBackup had issued a request to
mount this tape for some reason (I have the tape at my desk so it wasn't
going to work). I do not see why I would need to mount the tape to get the
image list. That is in the NetBackup catalog, so I am thinking I have the
wrong command. I checked the FAQ and it's not there either (at least, not in
any of the immediately potential areas that make sense) and the
documentation seems to suggested that bpmedialist is what I want, but for
   the behaviour I'm seeing...

   Thanks for any help!

   Jason
