More than likely it's a communication type problem.  Backups and restores
are handled differently.  I've had cases in the NT environment where
backups worked just fine and restores would fail quite similar to what
you're seeing.

Help!  I can't restore any files!
All attempts to restore files just hang. The progress log looks like
this:

(Automatic refresh box is checked)

This is how it has looked for 2 hours now and the L3500 tape library
shows no activity.

Backups have been running just fine.
