We are experiencing a strange problem with our Netbackup installation: -

We have 1400 clients backing up via  3 media servers controlled by a Sun 
E3500 master server. All servers are running 3.4 patched to the latest 
level. Clients are a mixture of 3.2 and 3.4 and a mixture of patch levels.

During the backup windows (mainly 1:00 - 8:00) the scheduler will stop 
placing queued jobs onto free tape drives.

At this point messages will stop being read from the message queue and jobs 
that have finished writing will still be marked as active, with just the 
'End Writing' message in the log.

Restarting results in these jobs being given status code 0.

We have monitored the master server and there appears to be no problems with 
system resources.

New jobs can be added to the queue, but they will never become active.

Tape are also not unmounted from the media servers tape drives.

The same phenomena can be reproduced by manually initiating the backups.

This event has been seen since merging two netbackup systems onto a single 
master server. The previous systems had Sun E250's as master servers and 
this problem was not seen.

That's all the pertinent facts I can think of, can anyone give me a clue as 
to where to look to investigate this further?
