It depends on how the DLT7000 was written.  The 7000 supports writing
tapes in a 4000 compatibility mode.  On Solaris that would involve using
either /dev/rmt/0l or /dev/rmt/0m devices (assuming a stock st.conf).  

Since those devices will be limited to DLT4000 capacities and speeds, I
would not expect it to be used on a production DLT7000 system.
