After installing the Solaris NetBackup patch 108261-06, there's a
script which you should run to update the known client types. It's
located in /usr/openv/netbackup/update_clients. This script basically
sets up links for Solaris 7/8 sparc/x86 (which actually just point
to the specific Solaris 2.6 client). After running the 'update_clients'
script they should show up in the list of know client types.
In terms of the network timeout during a backup, I would run through the
procedure listed in the Trouble Shooting Guide. Try using 'bpclntcmd -pn'
or 'bpclntcmd -sv' from the client to see if it can talk to the server.
Anyway, hope this helps.
