I just worked this out for Linux, so it may work the same on Solaris.
After installing the NetBackup client software, you need to run:
inetdconvert --convertremaining
which will convert the entries NetBackup placed in /etc/inetd.conf to
corresponding config files in /etc/xinetd.d. Then edit /etc/xinetd.d/bpcd
and remove "bpcd" from the server_args line(i.e. server_args is blank).
Then restart xinetd:
/etc/init.d/xinetd restart
This worked for me.
