veritas uses a "special" version of gnu tar

I tarred some files up once and couldn't untar them on another machine. When
I went "which tar" on the originating machine it pointed to the veritas tar.
Once I forced it to use standard tar that came with the system all was well.

That backup was made with the Netbackup mupliplexe ON (but it was the only
machine baked up at that time). So I'm not sure if I can use a regular tar
to extrac the files. Does anyone have an answer to this?
Note Veritas uses gnu tar
Thx for the help

Adam
