Hello Everyone

The Oracle DBA here has an interesting problem. They are trying to do an
Oracle alternate client duplicate. They've set the NB_ORA_CLIENT environmental
variable in their korn shell to the node name of the source machine and this
works for the RMAN restore but when they do the duplicate, the variable doesn't
seem to get imported. Note that in both instances, the variable is set in an
interactive korn shell and then the rman executable is invoked from that shell.

We've confirmed this by establishing a /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/dbclient
directory and setting it's permissions to 1777 so that logs are made of the
netbackup restore process. These netbackup logs clearly show that the client
name passed to it from the RMAN restore is that specified by the NB_ORA_CLIENT
variable whereas the client name passed to it from the RMAN duplicate is not.

Has anyone seen this behaviour, any suggestions?
