[Veritas-bu] Tape Alert automated cleaning not working

We are trying to move off of Storagetek autoclean and implement Netbackup
TapeAlert.
Note my earlier comment about the issue:

If you use the "autoclean" feature it will cause Netbackup to down drives
that are being cleaned by the library. That's why we are converting to
Netbackup automated cleaning. If you talk to Storagetek about an unusual
rate of drives being downed they will first ask you if you are using
Storagetek autocleaning and Netbackup software. If so you will get an
unusually high rate of drives being downed because Netbackup doesn't know
when STK is cleaning the drives. Converting to Netbackup cleaning will help
you resolve this problem.

        Hi ,

Sorry for this question ,

But what is the goal of using "autoclean" feature and TapeAlert ??

You have to use one of them , but not twice.

And correct me if I'm wrong , but the elapse time of cleaning a DLT drive
,when a cleaning cartdrige is about it's 20 limits, is more than 10 minutes
?

The timeout is just a limit to waiting for, but in anyway you have to wait
the maximum time for every mounts requests.

How Netbackup can underline "drive error" from a "tape error" ??

Thanks for reply.

Fabrice

Dan,

Thank you very much for your info.
We brought up the issue to Veritas and are waiting
for a response.
