Hi Patrick,

We are testing LTO drives at the moment... Our preminary results are pretty
good.
LTO is supported with 3.4 at the moment. On NT Veritas just came up with the
drivers 2 weeks ago or so.
For Unix they should be available (had not yet tested unix) With NT using 1/2
inch drive + manufacturer drivers work. I have heard even 3.2 can be used with
nanufacturer drivers (not supported)

Pretty good speed with large files at about higher 14 mbytes/sec sustained
speeds....
with smaller size files we got about 11 mb/sec...
The only problem we face is no compression.... (with hardware conpression on +
un compress files etc)
we only get the native capacity of the tape drive. I have heard that the is a
buffering problem with some LTO drives which affects the compression.

Rates looks promising, also the technology has variable rates for slow systems
to minimize shoe shining but I will hopefully get the test it some later date.
Also will get to test unix/robotic control etc later on.

If anyone else has some test and production experience I would like to hear
about it. The technology sounds promising, with embeded head checking/tape
integrity tests etc.

All have a nice week.

Regards,

Yucel
