As far as I know Veritas doesn't have that capability yet. I have heard
thought that they are looking to release this sometime in Q1 2001, but may
be seen in Q4 2000.
As far as I know there are not any products that allow for a true
"ServerLess Backup".
I'm sure that will be a big topic of discussion at Vision 2000.
I am waiting for the same.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Hostless backup VxBU / EMC
Hi,
question:
Consider an installation like this:
------------- ---------------
| netBackup | |FC-fabric TAPE|
| server(sun)| | StorageTek |
-------------- ----------------
| |
| +---------------+ |
+---------| Brocade Switch|-+
+---------------+
|
+-------------+
| EMC disk |
+-------------+
When Netbackup initiate a backup from a Vx volume
that is actual on the EMC, the traffic will go
EMC->switch->server->switch->tape
Is there solutions that can make the traffic go
directly from EMC->switch->TAPE ?
Is this possible, what kind of products do I need?
Yours
