[Veritas-bu] Oracle, RMAN, and you
2000-09-27 16:37:20
I'm getting a test environment on Solaris 2.6 up using NBU 3.2 with
Oracle DB extensions (release 3.2) with Oracle 7.3.4, 8.0.5 & 8.1.6.
We've been burned before in our production environment getting NBU 3.1.1
w/DB extensions to work with 8.0.5, particularly with linking libobk.so.
We ended up having to modify Build.csh & the make file to get it to work
with Metaphase, anyway... We've also got the updated instruction from
Veritas on this (its at
http://seer.support.veritas.com/tnotes/NETBACKUP/188382.htm). Okay, now
my questions:
1) With Oracle 7.3.4, 8.0.5 & 8.1.6, what version of libobk.so should be
used? (Is whats included on the DB Extensions CD-ROM current/workable
with each version of RMAN?)
2) Are there any known issues with integrating the various rev levels of
all the software I'm putting together (OS vs. RMAN vs. Oracle vs. DB
Extensions)
Thanks,
RCA
