We backup 1.8TB of Unix (all kinds of them), NTs, Novell, Win9x and MACs
on a Solaris server, without Gig ethernet. The Novell is 450 GB of this.
A good rate on our busy network is 10 GB/hour for a Novell server (we
have them from 3.12 to 5.1).
We use STK 9710 with 4 DLT 7000 drives, and we do multiplexing in all
classes.
We still run 3.2, no open-file utility. People can work on the NW
servers while the backup works, but the response time is effected.
I heard that 3.4 has also the IDR option for Novell.
The problems we had with Novell servers are due to the fact that the
troubleshooting guide either ignores or not accurate enough as far as
Novell clients. Another problem is that the client installation is very
unfriendly, and the default values of the configuration file are obsolete
(maybe this was changed in 3.4, I don't know).
