Actually I believe this still has the NBUDB header on 
the tape, and NBU will not reuse those. 

Each time you do a NBU DB backup the previous tape 
becomes "obsolete", so to speak, but the header remains

I always do

dd on those tapes that I need to re-use

then bplabel.

ex.

dd if=/etc/hosts of=/tapedev/name
tpunmount /tapedev/name
bplabel -ev MEDIAID -d DENSITY -p POOLNAME

I suppose you could just use -o option and bypass the 
dd, but old habits are hard to break.
