Andy,
It appears you have a hardware problem in the robot library. I would
suggest
you contact STK or your hardware provider and have them take a look at the
robot.

Dave

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Tape drive numbering and testing using robtest in
an L700

I've got a StorageTek L700 attached to a Solaris machine over FC using
FC-SCSI bridges. I've gotten the Solaris machine to recognize all of the
tape
drives, and the robotic control, by modifying the sg.conf file, and the
devlink.tab file. So far, all is well.

My tape devices, /dev/rmt/0 through 7 are created as well. I can run an "mt

status" on each of them without trouble, though it does take awhile.

I'm trying to determine the tape drive numbering vs. Solaris tape device.
So,
I run the robtest command.

I have a tape in CAPA slot 1.

m i1 s1
Initiating MOVE_MEDIUM from address 10 to 1000
MOVE_MEDIUM complete
m s1 s20
Initiating MOVE_MEDIUM from address 1000 to 1019
MOVE_MEDIUM complete

I can move a tape from the inport, to a drive slot, and from1 drive slot to
another, without issue.

However, when I try moving a tape to a tape drive, I get:

m s20 d1
Initiating MOVE_MEDIUM from address 1019 to 500
move_medium failed, CHECK CONDITION
sense key = 0x4, asc = 0x40, ascq = 0x1, HARDWARE ERROR, GENERAL

a mode command gives me:

mode
First transport addr = 0, Number transport elements = 1
First storage addr = 1000, Number storage elements = 384
First mailslot addr = 10, Number mailslot elements = 20
First drive addr = 500, Number drive elements = 8
MODE_SENSE complete

Any ideas?
