Hi,

I'm running NetBackup on a solaris box, backing up a NetApp filer via
NDMP to a tape library. The regular backups work fine but when it
comes time to backup the NetBackup database (/usr/openv/netbackup/db,
/usr/openv/volmgr/database) that lives on the solaris box things go
sloooow.

I know that it will be slower than the regular backups but it seems
excessively slow. For example it took about 30 minutes to back up 50
megs last night. Is this normal?

I'm not even quite sure how the data makes it to the tape drive.
Somehow it must be sucked over to the Netapp which pushes it over to
the tape library via NDMP.

I've thought about setting up some sort of cron job that copies the
files from /usr/openv/... on to the filer and backing up that but it
seemed a bit of a kludge.

Does anyone have experience with this sort of problem?

-C.
